NEWS

10/30/25 - This is perhaps the single biggest update to this site of all time, and it isn't even a visual enhancement, in the traditional sense anyway. Let me give you some history.

I started using the website builder Weebly all the way back in 2011. Back then, it was the best website builder; easy to use, easy to understand, drag and drop components and great theming and aesthetic options. And for a long, long time it was great. Until I started doing The Stag, and then I realized one of their biggest limitations, which is that you cannot have more than 9 blog pages per site, which led to me having to create two sister sites if I wanted to have more than 9 series, which I did. This led to the creation of The Doe and The Fawn. But, for what is was worth, it was fine. Was it annoying to have to house the same concept under 3 sites instead of umbrella'd under one site? Absolutely. Inconvenient to have to link, archive and update, but it worked. Until it didn't. Because, at some point in the last few years, Square outright bought Weebly and ever since then it has languished. People have lost access to their sites, their content, their work, and get little to no response from tech support, and that's without the editor errors that constantly keep you from even accessing the builder side of the site. Safe to say, things had gone downhill tremendously.

I was frustrated, as was everyone who had stuck by them for so long, and I began to seek alternatives. Wix was always too clunky and slow, and I say that even while liking them, and other site builders offered much of the same. Likewise, they employed payment requirements for the most basic of aspects. For a while, it appeared as though I was just stuck with Weebly for the foreseeable future, or at the very least, until Square finally deemed it no longer financially viable and shuttered the whole thing entirely.

And then...and then, I discovered Articulation. Articulation is founded and built by some of the founding engineers of Weebly, and they are fantastic. Quick response times on e-mails for support, essentially the same functionality on the builder, and overall easy to use, understand and access. Usually when trying out a new site builder, I get easily overwhelmed by how weird the UI is and how much time it takes to learn something that should be so simple. But with Articulation, it took me about 2 days to figure everything out, and it works like a charm. AND, perhaps the biggest change on my end aside from being out from under Square's disgusting misshapen thumb, is finally having a domain. That's right. For the entirety of my time on Weebly, I never once purchased a domain. I always used their free subdomains. At the point I was at in the last year or so, when the builder became outright unusable and kept me from being able to even do my job, I thought "this is bullshit, they're getting free advertising via their subdomain and they don't even deserve it with how awful their builder works". I never once thought about giving them a subscription in order to pay for the ability to host a domain. With Articulation, they were so amazing from the outset, that I purchased the domain you see n your URL bar before you and happily pay them a monthly fee to do so (among other features).

On top of that, I am no longer beholden to Weebly's bizarre blog rule, and now, simply because of the way this site builder operates, every single series across all 3 sites are housed under one. No more picking and choosing, no more linking off to sister sites. No. One site. One editor. Every series. AND, as many series as I want to do in the future. It's a great feeling, and it could've only been achieved thanks to the fine folks who built and run Articulation. So that's the rub, and that's where we are now. I deeply apologize for regular readers who may have been irritated at the lack of regular updates. I'm catching up now and will continue to do so until we are fully up to date before the start of 2026, I promise. Then, starting 2026, it's smooth sailing from then on out. Between the site builder issues and the move across the country I did back in August, it's been a hectic time and now is the time to catch up.

Thank you to everyone who supports me, supported me and will support me in the future. It means the world to me. And the biggest thanks to Articulation and Porkbun (who I purchased my domain from) for making this transition as easy and seamless as possible. Literally might not be here without you guys, so thanks.

Here's to the future.
